philly cheese
steak pizza
This is seriously it. The pizza to end all pizzas. It’s beefy, cheesy and a little spicy.
Try our version of the classic philly cheesesteak combo, with onions, red capsicum, cream cheese and seared steak - we can guarantee it’ll be a hit at your next pizza party! Or any occasion to be fair!
The creamy white base, richness of the steak and little kick from the jalapenos is SO satisfying.
Ingredients:
1 x Sugo tu Pizza Dough
125g (1/2 Block) Cream Cheese
1 small onion
¼ Red or green capsicum
Sliced Jalapenos
100g Steak
Salt and Pepper
Olive Oil
Chives for garnish – optional
Tips:
Use a tender steak, for this recipe we recommend Rib Eye or Porterhouse cooked to medium/medium rare. The steak is topped after the pizza is baked.
Bring your Philly Cream Cheese to room temperature to make it spreadable, we microwaved our block in 20 second increments until it is soft enough to spread over the dough with a spoon.
Method:
Step 1:
Pre heat your oven. Char the onion and capsicum off in pan with some oil and set side.
Step 2:
Oil your steak and generously season with salt. Cook the steak (medium or medium/rare tastes best), turning halfway through and then let it rest.
Step 3:
In the meantime, stretch your pizza dough, spread the cream cheese over the base. You may need to microwave your cream cheese to make it spreadable (Tip: microwave in 20 second increments until it is just soft enough to spread with a spoon)
Step 4:
Top the pizza with the charred capsicum, onions and jalapenos, then add the mozzarella.
Step 5:
Bake for 4-6 minutes at 250OC. Or if using a gas or woodfired oven bake at 350 OC - 400 OC
Step 6:
Slice up the rested rib eye steak into thin slices. Dress the pizza with the ribbons of meat and season with salt and pepper.
Enjoy!
