hot cross log
Traditional Hot Cross Bun flavours turned into log. Serve with ice cream or lashings of butter.
Some tips before you get started:
Let your dough rise to at least double-size
Have a square of baking paper ready
2 x Sugo Tu pizza dough discs
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon All Spice
2 Tablespoons melted Butter
1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar
1/2 cup plain flour
3-4 Tablespoons water
2 Tablespoons caster Sugar
1/3 Cup water
Butter or Ice Cream
Pre-heat the oven to 200C. Thaw dough according to pack instructions and let it rise to at least double the size.
Stretch or roll each dough into a rectangle approx 30cm x 15cm onto a floured surface.
For the log: Mix the Caster sugar, All Spice and Cinnamon into the melted butter until dissolved.
Spread the mixture over one side of each dough and spinkle the sultanas over the doughs.
Place one dough onto top of the other and fold over. Shape into the form of a log. Make the flour paste, spoon into a small zip lock bag (or use the empty dough pouch), snip off one corner and pipe the mixture into crosses over the log.
Bake for approx 20 minutes or until golden brown.
While baking make the glaze mixture: Place the water and sugar in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Bring to the boil for 3 minutes. Brush the warm glaze over the warm log.
Slice or tear apart and serve with ice cream or butter.
