calzone - spinach & ricotta
A delicious twist on a pizza - stuffed with spinach, fresh ricotta and sugo sauce.
Some tips before you get started:
Flour your dough generously
Place the dough onto a floured piece of baking paper that way you can easily slide it onto a baking tray or pizza stone
1 x Sugo Tu pizza dough disc
Your favourite sugo pizza/pasta sauce
Handful of fresh spinach
80g fresh ricotta cheese
Salt and pepper
Thaw dough according to pack instructions.
Pre-heat the oven to 250 deg Celsius.
Flour the dough and stretch to approximately 10 inches onto a floured surface.
In a bowl, mix the ricotta and fresh spinach, season with salt and pepper
In the centre of the dough spread the ricotta mixture leaving a wide rim around the edges of the dough.
Place small dollops of sugo sauce over the top of the mixture
To seal the calzone, pull one side of the dough over the top and crimp the edges so that no filling can spill out.
Place the calzone on a pizza tray, stone or floured baking paper and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is puffed and golden in top and the filling is hot.
